The tama rests on the inner edges of the two cups at once, like a bird on a perch. Small tilts matter enormously — bird is where calm hands are truly forged.

How it's done

Line up the two cup rims so their edges touch the ball at two points.

Lower the ken onto the tama and find the balance point.

Freeze — the bird is held, not gripped.
