The first real trick — a straight toss onto the largest cup.

Toss the tama straight up and land it on the largest cup. It looks simple because it is — but the vertical toss you learn here is the same motion every trick in the ladder reuses.
How it's done

Rest the tama on the big cup and hold the ken level.

Pull the cup down slightly, then toss the tama up to about eye level — vertical, no spin.

Bring the cup to meet the ball, not the other way around.
- 四
Absorb the landing: sink the cup a few centimetres as the ball touches down.
